Having created a great interest from brilliant people on Twitter today, I want to make sure this info gets out in as many places as possible. Puppy farming is growing because people still buy them. A current case of planning permission highlights exactly what we are fighting against. A farmer in Carmarthenshire who appears to have previously frequently breached permissions wants retrospective permission for a 196 dog breeding shed. Yes, you read that right, 196 breeding dogs. He’s been doing it for years. Continue reading

Last week saw yet another “attack” on a child by a dog which I’ve already commented on on this blog. I’ve been working for some time and am awaiting the last of my Freedom of Information requests to come back, on the facts behind the media stories.
Next week I have a press release going out asking for help. I need to speak to those people who own dogs who have hurt kids and the victims themselves to find a way forward. There must be some common denominators here, not the macho, sad men with their strutting Pit Bulls, we all know why those attacks happen. Several of these cases (and many more not in the news) feature family pets of all ages and breeds. These are the ones I want to investigate. Continue reading
Sadly another story about a Staffie biting a child.
It appears she was at a friend’s, in a tent and the dog has obviously bitten her head and face. Some ridiculous reporting of “chewed away her eyelid”. Whilst terrible, I don’t think this dog chewed away anything. The dog shouldn’t have been allowed to wander out to where kids were playing without supervision and if I had to guess, what’s the bet it’s another uncastrated male? Continue reading
Rottie cross Lennox ended up in the streets of Weymouth, Dorset after his home was burgled and he ran off. Reported missing by his owners when they returned after the burglary was discovered, they were first told he’d been taken to council kennels, then sadly, that he’d been put down. It took just 2 hours, from 4pm to 6pm for this tragedy to happen.
It is claimed that the dog warden (seen in the Daily Mail pic with Lennox on a catch pole) said the dog was “having a go at everything and anything”. Odd this, as the dog is on a pole after the warden cornered him (note, despite police being called, the warden got him) and is clearly trying to move backwards in the photo, not towards the warden or the Police. The warden is not at full stretch, either trying to pull a mad dog or hold a mad dog away. Continue reading
God help us. This new show, with Sarah Beeny aggravated me very quickly. I expected to see the usual insects, repulsed homeowners and presenter and not be surprised. Insects are a pet hate of mine. More than once I have been rescued from my bed where I stood squealing because a large spider was blocking my path to the door.
I have never seen mammals in the same light, no matter what they do. A friend has pet fancy rats, I live in rural places and am used to seeing the rats all over. They don’t bother me, I don’t bother them. My cats occasionally affect the population in terms of reducing them, I accept that, if I don’t like it. Continue reading
